A court built on Sands

Can judges in a Dutch seaside resort bring peace to the Middle East?

Last week, I interviewed Philippe Sands QC, professor of the public understanding of law at UCL, following a lecture he gave in 2019 at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The main topic we discussed was the decision by the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to open a formal investigation into what she calls the situation in the state of Palestine.

We also discussed his recent book The Ratline, a sequel to East West Street. He told me about a new development that may affect the book’s enigmatic ending. And he disclosed the subject of his next book, in what’s now expected be a trilogy.

The event lasted an hour and you can watch it here.
