Broadcaster ordered to pay £28,000 contempt penalty
The BBC has been fined £28,000 after it admitted unlawfully broadcasting a short clip from a High Court hearing on a regional news programme. Two senior judges were told that it had not occurred to the journalists concerned that they were breaking the law: they had simply “failed to join up the dots”.
