From beyond the grave
Film companies at war over at war over star’s ‘resurrection’
A film company’s claim that it had the right to “resurrect” Peter Cushing, the actor who died in 1994, was “hopeless”, the Court of Appeal said yesterday. Cushing appeared in more than 100 films, including Some May Live, The Man Who Finally Died and From Beyond The Grave.
The lady chief justice and the chancellor of the High Court struck out a claim against the producers of a Star Wars film called Rogue One, made in 2016. Cushing’s posthumous appearance in it, as the imperial commander Grand Moff Tarkin, was created using digital special effects.
