Review all IPP sentences, says UN expert
Lawyer calls for rehabilitation opportunities and appropriate reparations
An urgent review of all prisoners in England and Wales serving sentences of imprisonment for public protection — so-called IPP prisoners — has been demanded by a United Nations expert on torture.
Dr Alice Jill Edwards, an Australian-qualified lawyer, is a special rapporteur appointed by the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
