What sort of work can a judge properly do after retiring from the full-time judiciary of England and Wales? Sitting as an arbitrator? Certainly. Chairing public inquiries? Demonstrably.

But what about giving legal advice, perhaps even representing clients in court? Never? Or merely subject to conditions?
