The secretary of state for Scotland Alister Jack has made an order blocking the Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill, which was passed by the Scottish Parliament on 22 December.

As I explained in a piece last month, he has the power to intervene under section 35 of the Scotland Act 1998.
