Joshua, I’m sure the lecture was coruscating; but did you mean to suggest that it was excoriating?

Both, really. Coruscating not in its first meaning of "sparkling" but in its secondary meaning of "severely critical" or "scathing". But I don't know how it acquired that meaning. Maybe a confusion with "excoriating". I chose it because of the alliteration, of course. Never a good idea.

This valuable article links to the appalling situation whereby coroners have recently used flawed autopsy reports by infamous disgraced pathologist Dr Michael Heath who was allowed to continue to practice by GMC despite decades of known failings, miscarriages of justice and tribunals for negligence. Thanks Joshua. A valuable piece. My own limited experience of the coroner's system is mixed. It would help if the system were brought into the main judicial fold.
