I admire the judge’s humility, gratitude, humanity and the complete absence of pomposity. She came across as a reflective and wise woman in whose hands one’s business would be safe.

Perhaps because I am old enough to have been in practice on the North Eastern Circuit with King LJ and knew her as a delightful and eminently approachable person, I found the video interesting and worthwhile a view. I do agree with Joshua and Malcolm about 'the reflective melody' and wonder whether the 'soft focus' is overdone? However, unlike a journalistic interview the video is aimed at a different audience - one that perhaps may never see inside a court, let alone meet a real-life judge. I like that it reflects the growing diversity of the bench.

All for honest stabs TOWARDS demystification of the Court system and enabling judges to act and speak like regular human beings, that is very much like most of the rest of us. However: Why the profoundly irritating NON-music impinging upon our understanding ? In bars, restaurants, hotel lobbies and lifts and the like there is no escape from this tiresome and distracting trespass upon our thoughts, ability to hear everyday sounds around us and our conversational exchanges. How does it come about that we have to ENDURE this unwished for blight on our aesthetic senses? Has the anticipated audience ever been consulted about and opted for this assault on our critical senses? Has any potential auditor ever declared,”Oh, yes please- DO add a mindless NON-musical soundtrack? That would really enhance our appreciation of the broadcast”? Also Joshua is right: why the characteristic secrecy about why Lady Justice King and her male colleagues are dressed as though for a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta? Why not explain the occasion they are embarked upon as a feature of this otherwise worthwhile attempt? This is absolutely intended as constructive criticism.
