There’s nothing the newspapers seem to like more than a dispute between neighbours. If there’s a garden fence involved, so much the better. So when a news agency picked up a story from the Bath Chronicle1 seven years ago, the tabloids had a field day (pun intended).

Having failed to get her neighbour’s fence taken down, Janice Hemms lodged an application against the UK government at the European Court of Human Rights. That was in 2021. This week, she’ll find out what the court makes of her challenge.
